Do junk removal customers expect same-day service?
In a 2026 Adimize study of 321 recorded junk removal sales calls, 28% of callers asked for same-day or next-day service. That is 71 callers who wanted it gone today or tomorrow, and the company that can say so on the call wins them.
What we found
71 of the 257 callers who reached someone and asked about a job (28%) wanted same-day or next-day pickup.
Most of them didn't get a time. They got a callback. The usual ending was "text me some photos and I'll call you back," even when the caller had asked whether the truck could come today. Across all answered inquiries, 52% ended with no price and no appointment time.
That photo step moved the sale from a live call to a text thread. The call tracker shows only 28 more booked jobs than were booked on the call, so most of those threads never became jobs. Full numbers are in the study and on the statistics page.
Why it happens
A small hauling company doesn't know its afternoon at 9 am. The owner is on a job, the dump line might be long, and promising a window feels risky. Waiting for photos feels safer.
But a caller who wants it gone today has three other companies to call while waiting for your text.
What to do about it
- Know your next open slot before you answer. Keep the day's schedule where the phone is.
- Give a price range and a time on the call. "We can be there tomorrow at 10" closes. See should you give prices over the phone.
- Use photos to confirm, not to delay. Book the slot first, then ask for photos to lock the price.
- Hold a same-day slot. Even one open window a day gives you something to sell to these callers.
- Listen to 10 answered calls. Count how many callers asked for today or tomorrow, and how many got a time.
If the callers you lose are the ones who never got through at all, start with how many calls junk removal companies miss.
How we measured this
We studied six months of Google Ads calls and forms for an owner-operated junk removal company in Southern California, late March to the end of September 2026: about $42,000 in search ad spend, 327 calls, 52 forms and 321 call recordings. Each transcript was read and coded with AI assistance for job type, price quoted and how the call ended, and every call coded as booked was checked a second time. One company, one market, six months: treat it as one detailed example, not an industry average. Read the full study.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many junk removal customers want same-day service?
In this study, 28% of callers asked for same-day or next-day service. That was 71 of 257 callers who reached someone and asked about a job.
Should I promise same-day junk removal?
Only promise what your schedule can hold. Giving a real time on the call, even tomorrow at 10, does more than a callback.
What happens when callers are asked to send photos first?
In this study, most of those calls ended with no price and no time, and only 28 more jobs were booked after the call than on it. A caller in a hurry keeps dialing while waiting for your text.
